(Miami) Miguel Rodez Art Projects celebrates its Second Anniversary

With the show POWER PORTRAITS the gallery celebrates its Second Anniversary show. Originally, the gallery was intended to run for only 2 years, but its operation period has now been extended. In that brief 2-year period, numerous artists were given an opportunity to exhibit their artwork in shows curated based on specific themes. The shows were well-received by the pubic and the press. The Miami Herald, Art Districts Magazine, Community newspapers and several culture blogs wrote favorable reviews of the works presented and Frommers Travel Guide for Miami listed the gallery as a place to visit when in Miami.

POWER PORTRAITS features the work of Miguel Rodez, whose unique contemporary portraits that are difficult to ignore. His subjects have powerful looks that engage the viewer in a visual dialogue that compels one to question the complexity of emotion. The penetrating gaze of his characters make the viewer wonder whether or not these figures are daring the viewer to analyze them. Are these subjects overwhelmingly strong, or may one glean from them a sense of vulnerability? Is perception of strength being utilized as a shield to protect sensitivity? These portraits are essentially about being human. They also say as much about the subject of the portrait as they say about the artist. Miguel Rodez uses a bold color palate with iridescent hues over a large textured surface. The result is striking. Even the texture has meaning that is personal to the artist, but a few people have managed to decipher it. (See full information at Power Portraits Event's Facebook Page)
