(Miami-Invitación) "Unveiling Joaquin" at Miguel Rodez Art Projects

JOAQUIN IS REAL. Though he may have some vulnerabilities, he has a piercing look that will make you think twice about crossing him. It's better that you don't even think about it. You might think he is a bully, but he's just one of the guys. He is highly educated, yet he is as down-to-earth as they come. He is a humble quiet guy, but he also appears on TV, at times, talking about History and Culture. No one is strictly one thing or another.

We are all complex human beings, with strengths that lead us to triumph and weaknesses that can crush us into the ground under the rich circumstances. Capturing this complexity in acrylic, using just only one subject, is no easy feat, and may be impossible, but that is just the challenge that Miguel Rodez dared to take on when he decided to make a portrait of Joaquin from a photograph by Delio Regueral. The result is a portrait simply called "Joaquin." Was Joaquin's likeness captured? Does the image move you in some way?

Joaquin will be unveiled during the bird Road Art Walk on Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Vivian Donnell Rodriguez, who will serve as the MC will make a brief introduction of Historian Joaquin, Photographer Delio Regueral, Artist Miguel Rodez and the painting itself. We hope that you will join us and share your opinion.

Special guests:

Joaquin.
Delio Regueral.
Vivian Donnell Rodriguez.
