San Miguel, Camagüey, en el año 1909


San Miguel
, Camagüey. - Barrio and village. The American colonies, Riverside and Atalaya, are in this barrio; also the sitio of Baga and some smaller places. The village of San Miguel is about 10 miles south of Nuevitas, and consists of 3 stores, a bakery, schoolhouse, rural guard station, and about 60 houses. There are also the ruins of an old sugar mill. Water is obtained from wells and cisterns. Telephone connection with Baga. The village is the terminus of a proposed railroad from Guáimaro, and is connected with the sea by an old railroad running to Bagá. There are roads running from this village north to Nuevitas, south to Palo Seco, on Cuba Company Railroad, west to Minas, and east to Santa Rosalia. (Military notes on Cuba, 1909.
