Catholic Charities accepting financial donations to assist victims of tornado in Havana


Miami… (January 30, 2019) Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami is accepting financial donations, by check or online that will provide resources to Caritas Cuba (Catholic Charities) to assist victims of the tornado in Havana.

The tornado that ripped through Cuba’s capital on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 with wind speeds of up to 100 km/hr (60 mph), killed at least three people and injured more than 172 residents. The rare tornado that uprooted trees and cut power in poor neighborhoods is the first to hit the city in decades.

Staff at the Hijas de Galicia maternity hospital had to evacuate.

The Archdiocese of Miami (ADOM) encourages all concerned members of the Miami community to support the people affected by this disaster. Donations can be made online at www.ccadm.org or by mail at the following address:
