The First Miamians



Long before the first American pioneers established homesteads on the Miami River, its banks were occupied by the Tequesta indians. Archeologists have discovered the remnants of a Tequesta fishing village on a development site in downtown Miami, and what they are finding is completing a vivid picture of what life was like for this prehistoric community of first Miamians.
